Uhlik Repeater Raccoon Traps
You may think raccoons are just cute, furry little friends, but in reality, they can be quite a nuisance. They dig through your trash, eat your plants, and dig in your garden. Because they are intelligent creatures, raccoons can get into nearly anything and create costly messes everywhere, wreaking havoc on everything from trash cans to lawns to homes. They’re determined and persistent, so once they find a location that provides food or shelter, they keep finding their way back for more.
Even more concerningly, raccoons may pose significant health risks. They can carry diseases like rabies, and their latrines can spread parasites like roundworms.
Getting Rid of Raccoons
Raccoons are notoriously hard to get rid of. They are cautious and clever, so they often outsmart traps. If you want to remove raccoons from your property, you need a durable, high-quality trap proven to be effective against even the smartest critters.
Our Uhlik Repeater Live Raccoon Traps are easy to use. Simply set out the trap with bait in the tray, then wait for the raccoon to be lured in by the promise of a tasty snack. Once the raccoon enters the bait tray, the trap door is triggered, dropping the raccoon into the cage. The patented multi-catch latch mechanism resets the trap door after capturing the animal, preventing it from escaping and getting the trap ready to catch the next raccoon.
Because the cage resets itself and can hold between four to six raccoons, our repeater traps are an efficient way to take care of an infestation. Once you’ve caught your prey, it’s important to call animal control right away for instructions. You don’t want to leave the animals in the cage for an extended period of time since they could die if trapped too long.
Local rules and regulations dictate where you are allowed to relocate them, and some states only allow licensed animal control employees to perform the relocation. If you get the all-clear from animal control to relocate the raccoon, you may want to transfer the animal to one of our large transfer cages to make the process more convenient. The animal will probably be scared, so try putting a blanket over the cage while you move it to help them calm down. Raccoons are able to extend their paws through the holes in the cage, so you’ll want to wear thick gloves and protective clothing to prevent scratches.
You should release raccoons at least ten miles away from your home, otherwise, they could find their way back to your home. To release the raccoon, face the door away from you and open it. The raccoon will run away on its own.
